One More Thing About the Farmers’ Markets in CA and Then I’ll Stop

April 12, 2010

At the end of my family’s trip to California we spent the morning at the farmers’ market at the Ferry Building in San Fransisco, and almost missed our flight coming home–that’s how dizzying and amazing the place was. And guess who we ran into at the market? Peggy Knickerbocker, one of our very own Cookstr authors, whose festive recipes are plenty amazing.

Once on the plane my husband distanced himself from me as I shoved my duffel bag of leeks, pea shoots, Cowgirl Creamy cheese, garlic, asparagus, Acme bread, pomelos and other assorted items into the overhead bin, with the wafting fragrance of garlic shoots causing people to lift their heads.

And as soon as our nicely bumpy avocados were unpacked, I went straight to Peggy’s Authentic Guacamole recipe.

Anyway, yeah. Some people buy snow globes and keychains; I buy avocados and chard.  I feel like they make the trip last longer.

I love that your carry-on bag contained so many goodies from that market. When I went I brought back the best almond butter and rice from Massa Organics. Your produce treasures make me want to go back there soon.

Yes, it is a fantastic orgy of produce! Wish I could have run into you there!
